Beam Drip game keeps a small amount of information about how the game is played including scores, progress, and other game analytics, and uses it for two purposes only: remembering your place, and making the game better.
When you play while signed in to Reddit, the game saves your progress so it is still there when you come back. This happens automatically as you play, in the community where you are playing. It is stored against your Reddit account ID and contains only game state:
To keep your place. This is what almost all of it is for: your scores, your trivia progress and your unlocks come back when you return.
To make the game better. Looking at how the game is actually played is how it improves — whether a world is too hard, where rounds tend to end, which facts people get to, whether a change made things better or worse.
Your data is never sold. It is also never rented, traded, licensed or handed to a third party.
Beam Drip has three leaderboards in each community: most drops sent home, longest survival, and trivia accuracy.
Nothing is ever posted to a leaderboard unless you press Publish. When you do press Publish, your Reddit username and that one score are saved to that community's board, where anyone who plays there can see them. If you never press it, your username never appears.
Only your best score is kept, and publishing again after a worse round will not replace it.
Beam skins and worlds can be bought with Reddit gold. Those payments are handled entirely by Reddit — Beam Drip never sees or stores any payment details. To know which items you own, the game asks Reddit what you have already bought; it does not keep its own copy of your purchase history. This is also why your purchases follow you between communities.
The game stores two yes/no flags in your browser (bd_seen_howto and
bd_seen_magma) so that one-time tips do not show every visit. They stay on
your device, are never sent anywhere, and clearing your browser data removes them.
Beam Drip does not set cookies.
Everything above is stored using Reddit's own storage for apps, inside the community where you played. It is kept separately for each community, so progress in one subreddit is not visible in another.
You can take your own entry off a leaderboard at any time, from inside the game. Open the leaderboard, find your score, and use the small Remove my entry link below it.
Your saved progress is not affected. Your scores, unlocks, golden drops and trivia progress stay exactly as they are — you are simply no longer listed. If you remove yourself from every board, your username stops being stored as well. You can publish again whenever you like.
Questions about any of this can go to the moderators of r/BeamDrip.
